From the bottom of my heart, I want to give a big and sincere Thank You!!! to all of the people who have commissioned me for work and who have collected my work over the years. I have had the privilege to have my artwork purchased through private commissions, auctions, or from sales at exhibitions. It is mind blowing that some Artists never sell their work during their lifetime, while others can sell their work in the six figures.
What I have noticed is that those that have successful careers focused on one medium and theme. This is so that the public can have something consistent and familiar to visually connect to and follow. It can be jarring or confusing for the public if the Artist changes up constantly, but the Artist must follow their instinct so that they can let their work mature and evolve as they age.
I had that "inner conversation" with myself in my late 20's. Do I focus on just painting, graphic design or music? Living in NYC in the 1990's, I was in an ocean of creative influences, creative people and many outlets to express it to the public.
Since one particular form of Artistic medium didn't fully satisfy me and by now the different mediums were a part of me, I decided to let myself be open to the full potentiality of having multiple styles of Art under my belt. Even if it meant sacrificing "a family life" and risk going crazy, I had to do this, all chips on the table and NEVER STOP UNTIL I DROP. It was what I was born to do!
