nyc exhibitions: 1994-2009

I responded to an ad in the Village Voice for Artists Submission to participate in a group showing at the Village Vanguard during the summer of 1994. I showed one acrylic painting "Four Faces" in this exhibition.

I have booked 10 out of my 18 exhibitions in the Brooklyn & Manhattan areas. Usually it was pretty easy to set up my shows. I'd bring a portfolio with images of my work and work out a percentage split. I would also do my own promotions for the shows. Smaller works no larger than 18" x 24" was easier for me to carry around than large 2' x 3' canvases. I would also use acrylic paint since it dried faster. 

Exhibitions across Brooklyn & Manhattan. The majority of my shows were in several locations in Brooklyn and in Manhattan such as clubs, restaurants, large industrial spaces and exhibition loft spaces.

S.U.N. ARTS COLLECTIVE – Founded by fellow contemporary Artist, Mouse D. Balingit, whom I met working 3rd shift at FAO Schwarz doing Visual Display. Starting in 2000, I was his first Exhibition Artist of his newly formed arts collective, S.U.N. Arts. I, along with several other Visual Artists, would do group exhibitions throughout Brooklyn and Manhattan.

GELATO! ART SALON – During an intense period in my life while trying to relocate back to NYC (2008-2009), for a few months I worked alongside founding member Garon Peterson and other members of the collective to discuss and plan our exhibitions. Jan & Feb 2009 I did 2 different Paper Sculptures. 1 with photos of Lindsay, Sarah & RC . March 2009, I was one of several Event Photographers there and operated the projectors and sound on the 2nd & 3rd floors.

ATTAIN– A mini speaker sound set up with a chair for body painting for this mythical erotic event in Long Island City.

W.A.H.– Full body painting of my model LUCIA for an erotic tarot based event at the Williamsburg Art & Historical center. I also performed here with 3 other projects: "The Vivian Richie Story" (a musical by Dr. Amy Champ), a group jam band performance hosted by Brian Quinn and a Red Earth band performance.

BAR SKETCHES – A collection of sketches made in bars, clubs and restaurants while either with friends or during my solitary, nocturnal, urban voyages.  

VIDEO DOCUMENTATIONS – A collection of videos that I have shot over the years. I started out filming my friends performances and my band rehearsals, then moved onto abstraction and documentation.

THEATER & PERFORMANCE – I have some previous experience with Black Box Theater setups, and have done a few Avante Garde pieces incorporating light, sound and movement. The Real Theatre, To Die In Silver, Multiple Dwelling and Vertical Pool.

OTHER CREATIVE AREAS:

VISUAL DISPLAY / LIGHTING  – Working with FAO Schwarz doing Visual Display 1998-2000. Retail and Special Event Lighting with Levylighting.com 1997-2000

PUBLICATIONS – There are a few publications that I have had the pleasure of working on which gave me a creative freedom either in Cover Design, Layout or Interior Artwork. "NY & LA Casting", "NYMUG" (NY Mac Users Group), Edgar Cayce's A.R.E. NYC: "Transformation U", "Chemical Week Magazine", Fashion Market and 1411 magazines.

THE BANDS– Starting in 1995 through 2001, I was also involved with several bands that all played original music. I played Bass, Synth & samples. I would also book the gigs (except for Spirallina & Capsula 19) and make the majority of the flyers.  Some samples can be heard here on my soundcloud page.  Archival tracks are in an ongoing process of digitization and editing of my music.
