I started out at 10 years old helping my mother to paint fluffy clouds on a light blue sky on the walls in my room. Over time I would paint rooms in apartments, homes and retail.
The Bathroom Project was interesting because it was a dusty, squirrel ridden attic just a few months before I started.
There was one slight challenge; where the slanted wall and the straight wall met by the tub was not completely even. With the paint I created the illusion of a straight and even wall. I painted the cream color 1st, then the deep tomato red color.
I was the finisher for this project. All of the walls 2 inches from the ceiling needed painting after Lance (the store was owned by my friends Rick & Lance) had painted all of the walls with a paint roller. This is the first painting job where I needed to use a large ladder to reach the areas. It was a little surreal because within 5 years I had 3 different friends open up stores in this building (Carteaux & Leslie, ICONS, Apollo's Muse).
The bright window in the background is one of the two windows that I had restored and painted for Carteaux & Leslie's 1st location 18 months earlier. Also in 1991, this was the location of All-Starr Printing, a young black printer (rare back then) who printed my early S.A.M.P.L.E. flyers and printed the Black Pages that I worked on with Adcuity Enterprise.
